Choose Your Own “K” Song Adventure, #AtoZChallenge

Warning! What you are about to read is different from any other post you have read on this site. YOU will be the one to determine what this post is about.

Be careful! Your choices may bring great rewards or come with dire consequences. But don’t worry. If at any time you make the wrong choice, you can go back and pick again. And again. And again. And again. This will drive up Jean’s page views and make her feel really popular.

Now, on with the story…

You and your best friend Rodrigo have just helped your school’s futsol league win the championship pennant. On the way home from the game, you decide to stop at your neighborhood Starbucks for some frappucinos to celebrate.

Your smiles quickly fade when you notice your blogger friend Jean sitting at a table with her laptop in front of her. She is crying into her venti Caramel Macchiato (made with coconut milk because she sometimes pretends to be vegan but you know better).

“What’s wrong, Jean? Why are you crying?”

Jean says she has taken on the A to Z Blogging Challenge. She must work her way through the alphabet, letter by letter, day by day, post by post, until she reaches the letter “Z.”

Jean thought the challenge would be fun, and she kept up pretty well last week. But now she’s fallen on hard times. She suffered a nasty hangover this past weekend and then had to fill in for someone at work so she’s just been really exhausted when she gets home. Plus, she kind of underestimated how much work blogging every day was going to be.

Jean hasn’t had enough time to prepare today’s post and now she is staring into the dark void that is the letter “K.” She has been at the table for hours but hasn’t been able to come up with a good story. She could just skip the post, but then she might anger the A to Z gods and lose her blogger cred forever.

“What do you think, guys? Can you help me pick a song for today’s post?”

If you chose to help Jean, she will win the accolades of the entire blogging community and be a huge success. If you don’t, she will face a certain and agonizing death. Or maybe just some slight embarrassment.

What will you do?

Do you trust Rodrigo’s advice, leave Jean crying in Starbucks, and follow him into that piano bar where  Ben Folds Five is playing “Kate”?

Do you listen to Sebastian The Crab, that strange talking crustacean who won’t leave you alone even though you’ve asked him to like a million times, and “Kiss The Girl”?

Or do you climb aboard that strange riverboat called “The Chameleon” with Boy George and Culture Club? If so, watch “Karma Chameleon” now.

But wait! The mysterious L-Boogie and her band of Refugee Camp All-Stars just showed up. They look pretty cool. You could play “Killing Me Softly.”

Or, maybe you just think you’d better dance now, in which case, click on the video for “Kiss” by Tom Jones.

Which one will you choose?

  1. Funny post today Jean! I was picturing you in Starbucks sobbing into your cup…and can totally relate! 🙂 I’m going with Killing Me Softly, only because Karma Chameleon gets stuck in my head at least once a month. Don’t ask. I have no idea why. But I’d like to add Kashmir by Led Zeppelin to your list. 🙂

      1. Prince is pretty petty about his (admittedly brilliant) music appearing online. But it’s a great song in either version.

I think I’m gonna dance now.

  2. Haha – this post is hysterical. Don’t give up – your posts are too funny! Just have a little hair of the dog and keep going. My vote is for Kiss the Girl. If you’re crying into your Starbucks, I think you need the levity.

    1. Ha! Thanks, Jen! We’ll see what I can pull out of my hat for the next couple of days. Then I will avoid alcohol at all cost this weekend 🙂
